According to records kept by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) financial Broker William Young (Young), currently associated with Ameriprise Financial Services, llc, has at least 5 disclosable event. These events include 5 customer complaints, alleging that Young recommended unsuitable investments in different investment products including debt securities among other allegations and complaints.

FINRA BrokerCheck shows a pending customer complaint with a damage request of $101,400.00 on January 02, 2025.

Clients claim Willian Young failed to conduct a reasonable due diligence on the GWG investment, the GWG investment was misrepresented to the clients, and the GWG investment was unsuitable for the clients in view of their financial situations and needs, investment objectives and risk tolerance for their account.

shutterstock_175000886-300x225The attorneys at Gana Weinstein LLP are investigating BrokerCheck records reports that financial advisor Nicholas Stamatis (Stamatis), currently employed by Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC (Ameriprise) has been subject to at least one customer complaint during the course of his career.  According to records kept by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Stamatis’s most recent customer complaint alleges that Stamatis recommended unsuitable investments in structured products and makes allegations concerning misconduct relating to the handling of the customer’s accounts.

In April 2024 a customer complained that Stamatis violated the securities laws by alleging that Stamatis recommended unsuitable investments of variable annuities and structured notes. The claim alleges $80,000 in damages and is currently pending.

Structured products are a class of derivative products that derive their performance from market linked data.  A structured product generally references a source against which market risk is taken. The source can be a single security, a basket of securities such as a market index, commodities, interest rates, or a real estate loan portfolio. The variety of products that can be structured demonstrates the difficulty in formulating a single unified definition of a structured product.

shutterstock_183525503-300x200The law offices of Gana Weinstein LLP are currently investigating claims that advisor Eric Dupre (Dupre) has been accused by investors of engaging in fraudulent misappropriation of their funds.  Higgins was terminated by his employer for engaging in undisclosed investment activities including undisclosed outside business activities (OBAs).  According to records kept by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), it appears that Dupre was employed by Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC (Ameriprise) at the time of the activity.  If you have been a victim of Dupre’s alleged misconduct our firm may be able to assist you in recovering funds.

In December 2023 Ameriprise terminated Dupre for cause alleging that the firm terminated Dupre due to violation of company policy related to borrowing from clients.

On May 23, 2024 a customer filed a complaint alleging that former advisor Dupre recommend that they invest in a “cryptocurrency opportunity”. However, it appears that Dupre did not invest the Claimants’ funds, but instead misappropriated the funds. Claimants allege that Dupre stole more than $2.6 million dollars from them.  The dispute is currently pending.

shutterstock_29356093-300x214The attorneys at Gana Weinstein LLP are investigating BrokerCheck records reports that financial advisor Jeffrey McHale (McHale), currently employed by Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC (Ameriprise) has been subject to at least three customer complaints during the course of his career.  According to records kept by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), McHale’s customer complaints alleges that McHale recommended unsuitable investments in various investments including allegations of concentrations in biotech stocks and low cap stocks among other allegations of misconduct relating to the handling of their accounts.

In December 2019 a customer complained that McHale violated the securities laws by alleging that McHale made investments recommendations in unsuitable investments including pharmaceutical and biotech stocks while at Ameriprise from 2015 through 2019. The investors also allege that their accounts were overconcentrated and certain transactions were marked unsolicited despite being recommended by respondent advisor. The claim alleges $655,000 in damages and is currently pending.

In December 2018 a customer complained that McHale violated the securities laws by alleging that McHale made investments recommendations in unsuitable investments.  The investors allege that respondent recommended a high concentration of equity securities, did not recommend bonds and instead recommended low priced low market cap securities.  The claim alleges $180,000 in damages and is currently pending.

(Ameriprise) has been subject to at least six customer complaints during the course of his career.  According to records kept by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Kordich’s customer complaints allege that Kordich recommended unsuitable investments and securities among other allegations.

In February 2019 a customer filed a complaint alleging that Kordich violated the securities laws by, among other things, made unsuitable investments from 2012 through 2015.  The claim alleges damages of $300,000 and is currently pending.

In April 2013 a customer filed a complaint alleging that Kordich violated the securities laws by, among other things, that from May 2011 through September 2012 the advisor traded excessively in the client’s accounts.  The claim alleged $150,000 in damages and resulted in a settlement of $43,000.

shutterstock_92699377-300x285According to BrokerCheck records financial advisor Michael Pepe (Pepe), currently employed by Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. (Ameriprise) has been subject to six customer complaints, one criminal matter, and one tax lien in his career.  According to records kept by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), many of the complaints against Pepe concern allegations of unsuitable investments.

In August 2018, Pepe disclosed a tax lien of $34,439.  This information has been found to be material for investors to have because an advisor who cannot manage his own finances is a relevant factor for investors to consider.  In addition, a broker in financial distress may be influenced to recommend high commission products or strategies.

In May 2018 a customer filed a complaint alleging that Pepe engaged in unauthorized trading in unsuitable securities. It was further alleged that had he been suitably invested, he would have generated a profit of approximately $750,000 under a well-managed portfolio damages analysis.  The complaint is currently pending.

(Ameriprise), has been subject to three customer complaints.  According to records kept by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Salerno has been accused by a customers of unsuitable investment advice concerning various investment products including energy stocks including master limited partnerships (MLPs).  The law offices of Gana Weinstein LLP continue to report on investor related losses and potential legal remedies due to recommendations to investor in oil and gas and commodities related investments.

The most recent claim was filed in March 2018 and alleges unsuitable recommendations of municipal bonds in the period of 2013 to December 2017. The customer claimed $300,000 in damages and the claim is currently pending.

shutterstock_191231699-300x200According to BrokerCheck records financial advisor Jack Griffith (Griffith), currently employed by Janney Montgomery Scott LLC (Janney Scott) has been subject to five customer complaints and one lien.  According to records kept by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), most of a Griffith’s customer complaints allege that Griffith made unsuitable recommendations in equity securities.

In January 2018 a customer made allegations unsuitable recommendations for the client’s account, overconcentration, and breached his fiduciary duty. The claim alleged $200,000 in damages and is currently pending.

Also in January 2018 another customer made allegations of unsuitable recommendations for the client’s account.  The claim alleged $150,000 in damages and is currently pending.

(Ameriprise) financial advisor Jonathan Mirer (Mirer) has subject to seven customer complaints according to BrokerCheck records.  Mirer has been employed with Ameriprise since July 2016.  According to BrokerCheck the most recent customer complaints allege unsuitable investments and unauthorized trading among other claims.

The most recent complaint was filed in October 2016 and alleges unauthorized trading causing $62,000 in damages.  The complaint was settled.  In April 2016 another investor filed a complaint alleging damages as a result of unsuitable investments in energy stocks.  The complaint was settled.  The securities lawyers of Gana Weinstein LLP continue to investigate the customer complaints against Mirer.

Our firm is currently tracking a number of brokers that severely concentrated their clients in the oil and gas and commodities sectors which has historically possessed speculative risks due to the volatile nature of commodities prices.  Before making such recommendations, financial advisors must ensure that the oil and gas and commodities related investments being recommended to their client is appropriate for the investor and conduct due diligence on the company before making the recommendation.  Unfortunately, sometimes adivsors fail to conduct sufficient research or understand the risks and prospects of the company and the volatile nature of commodities.
