Sgi Securities LLC – In the News:

FINRA v. Sgi Securities LLC (Case #2016047637501) – Between February 1, 2014 and September 30, 2014, 2,830 SGI emails were not retained on the third-party system the firm used to comply with SEC Rule 17a-4; although SGI kept those emails on its own server, the server was not Rule 17a-4 compliant. Between May 2012 and October 2016, SGI’s email retention system also did not prevent the firm from permanently deleting emails, and SGI failed to document its supervisory email reviews. As a result, SGI violated Section 17(a) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, Rule 17a-4, NASD Conduct Rule 3010(d)(1), and FINRA Rules 3110(b)(4), 4511, and 2010.
